Your Day to Day:

As a Commis II, you will support the kitchen team with basic food preparation and daily kitchen operations while developing your culinary skills.  You will follow instructions from the Chef de Partie and senior chefs to ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently, and according to hotel standards.

Some of your main role responsibilities are:

• Support the Chef de Partie and senior kitchen team in daily operations while maintaining quality and sanitation standards

• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, portioning and proper storage

• Assist with mise en place and basic food preparation according to recipes and instructions

• Support timely service while maintaining food quality, consistency and presentation.

• Maintain proper food hygiene, HACCP, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.

• Ensure proper storage, labelling, and FIFO rotation of ingredients.

• Follow all hotel SOPs, health, safety, fire, and hygiene procedures.

• Keep workstations, utensils, and equipment clean, organized, and in good condition.

• Report any equipment or food safety concerns to the Chef de Partie.

• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for: 

• Completion of a degree or certificate in culinary arts 

• Previous kitchen or culinary experience; experience as a Chef or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

• Good oral and written communication skills.

• Basic knowledge of food preparation, kitchen hygiene, HACCP, and food safety standards.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.

• Physically able to lift, push, pull, bend, and kneel as required.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
