About the Job:

As Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton continues its exciting inaugural year, you will play a key role in building market presence, securing new business opportunities, and establishing the hotel as a sought-after destination for conferences, events, and group accommodation. Working closely with clients and hotel teams, you will drive sales, develop lasting relationships, and deliver exceptional experiences that contribute to the hotel's ongoing success.

 

What we are looking for:

Commencing in December 2026, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional organisational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a proven track record in securing business and delivering successful conferences, events, and group accommodation. You will manage the full event lifecycle, from initial enquiry and contracting through to execution and post-event follow-up. Working closely with clients and hotel teams, you will maximise revenue opportunities while delivering exceptional service and memorable experiences.

 

Responsibilities:

Business

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including corporate clients, associations, event planners, and React to all new sales leads to ensure business growth and conversion. At all times understanding the clients needs while optimising hotel revenue.
  •  Build long-term relationships with clients to generate repeat business, referrals, and ongoing loyalty to both the hotel and IHG brands.
  • Monitor business performance, competitor activity and local market demand generators to identify opportunities, develop compelling promotions and enhance the overall guest and client experience.
  • Ensure correct and accurate billing and post stay communication with clients
  • Collaborate as part of the hotel commercial team to promote and market the hotel's conferencing and event facilities, driving revenue and maximizing occupancy.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors, such as audio-visual suppliers, decorators, entertainers, and transportation providers, to secure the best value for the hotel and clients.

 

Guest Experience

  • Be the primary point of contact for meetings, events and group accommodation held at the hotel, working closely with clients, reservations and operational teams to deliver exceptional service, secure repeat business and generate referrals.

  • Prepare detailed event proposals, contracts, and event orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their event requirements to provide tailored solutions for successful events and group accommodation, including desired dates, number of attendees, room setups, audio-visual needs, catering preferences, and other special requests.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, industry functions, hosted client activities and site inspections to showcase Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton and IHG Hotels & Resorts and generate new business opportunities.

 

What we need from you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience desirable).
  • Proven experience as a Conferencing and Events Executive / Coordinator in a hotel or similar environment.
  • Proven experience in proactive sales to grow hotel awareness and secure new business opportunities. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality events.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
  • Proficient in hotel PMS, Delphi or similar software and Microsoft Office Suite is strongly desirable.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment, event and hotel operations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
