The InterContinental Hotels Group® properties in Dubai Festival City consist of four hotel brands. A little taste of your day-to-day
- Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with culinary standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior members of the Kitchen Brigade.
- Maintain high standards in food preparation, presentation, and hygiene.
- Create innovative and appealing menus for the outlet.
- Collaborate closely with the Outlet Manager to achieve our winning ways metrics.
- Work with the Pastry, Bakery, and Garde Manger kitchens to design contemporary, multicultural menus.
- Monitor compliance with company and municipality hygiene standards.
- Ensure quality and presentation of the buffet during service.
- Manage and track food costs, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Partner with the culinary team to provide a diverse and attractive menu that caters to various tastes and dietary needs.
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team to achieve excellence in culinary execution.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging growth and skill development.
- Assist in planning and executing special events and promotions.
- Ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house teams during events.
- Monitor and control inventory to reduce waste and maintain cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct training sessions for kitchen staff to keep them updated on new techniques, menu items, and safety protocols.
- Identify and cultivate talent within the team.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure consistent, exceptional dining experiences.
- Address guest feedback promptly and strive for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development and management of the culinary department budget.
- Monitor costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Assist in recruiting in line with company guidelines.
- Coach, counsel, and discipline staff, offering constructive feedback to improve performance.
- Maintain regular communication with staff and foster positive relationships.
- Approve leave requests, considering hotel occupancy, in the absence of the Cluster Executive Chef.
- Continuously monitor departmental costs to ensure alignment with the budget.
What we need from you
- Degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management, minimum of 2 years in the same position.
- Strong technical skill set and understanding of multicultural cuisine.
- Proven history on working in a multinational environment.
- Hold an internationally approved food safety certificate, ideally HACCP.
- Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with members, colleagues, and guests.
- General knowledge of costing which relate to food cost control.
- Self-motivated innovative with a high drive for results
- Technically literacy including MS word, excel and presentation
