Duties and Responsibilities
As Marine Biologist, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation in the following:
• Conduct snorkeling and scuba diving trips and give presentation about sea and local ecosystem related issues.
• Be aware and handle all biological and environmental issues of concern and assist in environmental monitoring, monthly data collection and processing and environmental assessments.
• Conduct regular monitoring and research of the island’s marine ecosystems, including coral reefs and seagrass beds.
• Develop and implement conservation projects such as megafauna surveys and biodiversity surveys.
• Collaborate with local and international organizations to advance conservation initiatives.
• Maintain detailed records of research findings and conservation outcomes.
• Design and lead interactive guest activities, such as guided snorkeling, eco-tours, marine life talks, and presentations.
• Create engaging educational materials, such as brochures, infographics, and videos, to raise awareness of marine conservation.
• Train resort staff to enhance their understanding of marine conservation principles and practices.
• Organize outreach programs with local schools, communities, and stakeholders to promote marine conservation.
• Represent the resort at environmental forums, conferences, and community events.
• Prepare reports and updates for resort management on conservation efforts, guest activities, and outreach programs.
• Products and services will be constantly assessed and reviewed to remain relevant, innovative and in keeping with Six Senses wellness and sustainability practices.
• Rigorous adherence to LQA standards.
• Responsible for an exceptional guest experience.
• Effectively carry out service recovery or charge our hosts to do so in the event of guest complaints.
• Responsible for inspecting equipment on a regular basis and ensuring any maintenance and product improvements are actioned within the designated time frame.
• Responsible for monthly inventory.
• Thorough knowledge of all facilities and services offered by the property.
• Deliver a crafted experience for all of our guests and foster a desirable place to work for all of our hosts.
• A high standard of personal appearance, grooming and hygiene, plus comprehensive knowledge of safety, security and emergency procedures.
• Ensure that interaction and communications between departments within the property are clear and effectively maintained to support the smooth running of the property.
• Ensure that all activities are carried out ethically, honestly and within the parameters of local law.
• Revise and control department’s operational budget is strictly adhered to, and all costs will be continually monitored and controlled to drive profitability.
• Prepare and submit legally required and confidential documentation related to the operation.
• Complete accurately all corporate reporting requirements for the role.
Qualifications
To execute the position of Marine Biologist, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and at least 2 years’ experience in a similar hotel operational role.
• Technical skills include Divemaster Certification, MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Familiar with various hotel systems including POS, PMS and CRM platforms. I have knowledge of hotel/resort and policies regarding guest activities and excursions. I have knowledge on how to swim. I have knowledge and experiences of hospitality operations, including emergency evacuation drills, water sports and recreational facilities.
• Fluent in English
