A little taste of your day-to-day
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
- Section Leadership: Take ownership of a designated section (e.g., sauce, pastry, garde manger), ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
- Culinary Execution and Precision: Prepare and cook menu items to exacting standards, adhering to recipes and portion control, while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
- Ingredient Management and Stock Control: Manage stock levels within your section, ensuring proper rotation and minimizing waste.
- Hygiene and Sanitation Standards: Maintain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene within your section, adhering to and exceeding local health and safety regulations.
- Team Collaboration and Support: Work closely with other kitchen staff, providing support and guidance as needed, and ensuring seamless service flow.
- Plating and Presentation: Ensure all dishes leaving your section are presented to the highest standards, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to visual appeal.
- Assist in training of commis chefs.
What We Need From You:
- Proven Culinary Experience: Demonstrable experience working in a professional kitchen, with a solid understanding of culinary techniques and principles.
- Section Proficiency: Expertise in managing and operating a specific kitchen section.
- Culinary Skills and Knowledge: A strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredient knowledge, and flavor profiles.
- Attention to Detail and Precision: Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of food preparation and presentation.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a well-organized workstation.
- Hygiene and Safety Awareness: A thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50lbs (23 kg), and to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility: Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Culinary education is a plus.
