This role provides legal support to IHG’s Ops, Finance & Growth functions in respect of various legal demands during hotel operation stage, assist senior lawyers in litigation/arbitration in order to protect IHG interests.  

 

Your day to day

•    Perform legal research and identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent materials;
•    Assist senior counsels and regional based counsels to consolidate resources and optimize best practices to deliver legal opinions on ad hoc assignments or dealing with various hotel crisis and incidents;
•    Assist senior counsels in knowledge database roll out and maintenance/Internal case classification and daily management;  
•    Coordinate with operation team on evidence collection and remedial measures for the non-compliant hotels;
•    Conduct legal due diligence document review for hotel deal signings; Prepare closing DD table and Work with signing counsels on DAC comments;
•    Assist senior counsels to optimize dd review and standardize dd process;
•    Prepare basic legal documents/preliminary legal advices under supervision of senior counsel;
•    Builds and maintains relationships with external legal counsel and supervising of legal actions and retaining lawyers for matters which relate to the business growth and hotel operations;
•    Supports initiatives to drive collaboration and alignment between the Greater China BRR team and the legal team members in other regions.

Key Accountabilities

•    Execution of legal aspects of Greater China strategy and annual business priorities/ global Legal priorities;
•    Continued development of Greater China precedent and document & information database;
•    Continued development of Greater China evidence collection and remedial measures for non-compliant hotels;  
•    Rollout of effective and efficient business tools and platforms, including but not limited to evidence collection methodology for regional ops; 
•    Support for execution of robust and effective training/ education and personal development platforms.
 

What we need from you 
•    Good time and priority management and organizational skills. Able to work under tight time pressures;
•    Good stakeholder management skills with experience of working with management and decision makers; 
•    Good team collaboration;
•    Strong document drafting skills (attention to detail, analytical, solution focused);
•    Adapts procedures, processes and techniques to accomplish strategic priorities whilst managing risk exposure.
•    Bachelor of Laws or above; Talented graduates and post-graduates from reputable universities will be considered;
•    PRC legal bar as a MUST.
•    Preferably 1~3 years working experience as a corporate counsel in MNCs or junior lawyer in law firm. 
•    Experience of working in cross-functional project teams;
•    Preferably broad generalist legal experience but litigation and/or labor dispute expertise will be a plus.
