Interview tips

So once you get the great news that your online application has been successful, you may be invited for an interview.

We know that for most people, an interview can be daunting. We’ll do our best to put you at ease. Try to remember that it’s just as important for you to find out about what it’s like working for us as it is for us to find out more about you.

During an interview, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your career history to date, your skills and experience, as well as future career aspirations. You may be asked about areas on your CV, what your main achievements are and why you’ve made certain career choices. You might be asked to think of examples of work situations you have been in and how you’ve handled it, relevant to the role you are applying for. It might be worth coming prepared to your interview for questions like this.

Regardless of whether your interview is over the phone, via video or face to face, here are a few tips to help:

Do your research. Have you researched IHG, our brands and our culture? Do you understand how your skills and personality are fit for the role you’ve applied for?

Preparation is key. We will want to hear about how you’ve planned for and overcome challenges in the past, relevant to the role you’ve applied for. Prepare some answers to these questions and perhaps practice these with a friend.

Be yourself. This is really important because at IHG it’s your passions, hobbies and personality that we want to hear about, as well as your professional achievements.
