We currently have an amazing pre opening General Manager position available in Melbourne.  Holiday Inn Bourke Street & Indigo Little Collins will be opening in Melbourne in quarter 2 of 2025. This unique dual brand hotel will be in the heart of Melbourne on Bourke Street Mall.  This is a complex hotel and will have a total of 453 rooms split across the 2 hotels and be supported by an amazing restaurant and bar in each of the hotels. 

We are looking for a General Manager that will be able to embrace our Holiday Inn Brand attributes such as priding themselves on delivering affordable, enjoyable experiences where guests are always welcome. As well as our Indigo brand attributes which include serving the curious – people who are inspired by new places, new people and new ideas.  

Initially, this role will be pre opening General Manager and you will work with owners and IHG’s new hotels team to open the hotel on time and in accordance with our brand and guidelines. After opening the role will transition into managing day-to-day operations of this full-service hotel by leading, empowering and building on the strengths of the management team to ensure all functions are operating effectively so guests are offered a premium product and a reliable, consistent experience. You will establish clear performance goals for employees, provide regular feedback and facilitate the development of high-potential individuals to build a strong talent pipeline.

Acting as a Brand Ambassador, you will place the brand at the centre of all communications, marketing initiatives and actions. You will use both the Holiday Inn and Indigo brand promise and guiding principles, market knowledge and social media, and work with the Sales and Marketing team to provide a clear strategy while challenging them to think of ways to beat the competition. You will also balance short-term actions and decision with the longer-term impact on the business to drive revenue, future profitability and deliver maximum return on investment for your owner’s equity.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a General Manager working in large complex hotels with strong commercial and operational experience. Previous pre opening experience will be highly regarded.  Strength in building relationships with diverse groups as well as exceptional stakeholder management skills will be paramount in the success of this role. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Hotel Administration or Business Administration will also be beneficial. 

You must currently meet the legal requirements to live and work in Australia.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a General Manager in from an international full-service hotel brand hotel. Experience working within the Melbourne and Australian market will be highly regarded.  A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Hotel Administration or Business Administration will be highly desirable.
