With a wealth of experience in operations and an impressive career in hospitality, Umaporn Vongpipun was ready for a fresh challenge. Something that would push her professionally, personally and creatively – every single day.
Her search for innovative and adventurous General Manager roles was proving uninspiring. This was until she discovered an opportunity to become the energising spirit behind the launch of the new Singhorn Midtown Hotel, Bangkok. We caught up with Umaporn to find out how she’s leading a new era of luxury and lifestyle as the General Manager of Asia’s first-ever Vignette Collection hotel.
Umaporn’s ambition was to bring an authentic sense of Thai culture and community values to every detail. After all, one-of-a-kind experiences are a signature of a Vignette Collection stay.

Like all IHG hotels, the new Singhorn Midtown Hotel is proud to offer opportunities to the next generation of aspiring GMs. Umaporn has found it particularly rewarding to be able to host internships for underprivileged local young people looking to take their first steps into the world of luxury and lifestyle hospitality. Many choose to stay beyond the duration of their internship and become part of the IHG family – or explore other entry-level opportunities in the global IHG network.
