The Role

In this role you will be providing specialist environmental guidance and support to regional business functions and stakeholders to achieve global environmental sustainability commitments and targets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of EMEAA environmental strategy to deliver against priorities.
  • Lead key regional environmental sustainability initiatives e.g. decarbonisation programme, energy efficiency, renewables, waste, water, biodiversity.
  • Supports critical development and delivery of EMEAA decarbonisation strategy including driving transition to low carbon hotels
  • Leads EMEAA Environment team including EMEAA Environment Manager and Specialist including a dotted line to operations and communications support. 
  • Responsible for implementing processes to support efficient functioning of the EMEAA environment team and quality of deliverables.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing EMEAA data strategy to ensure complete and verifiable reporting.
  • Work with regional key business functions such as design and engineering, commercial integration, and hotel operations to incorporate environmental sustainability considerations into their planning and support in execution.
  • Develop regional Corporate Responsibility related brand standards as required.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and analysis of regional environmental information and work with the regional leadership to assess performance and develop improvement plans.
  • Responds to requests and environmental sustainability inquiries from regional teams, including interpreting environmental data and targets, researching data sources, and providing general performance analysis as needed.
  • Represents IHG on external environmental sustainability working groups and share insights back to the business.
  • Develops insights on business trends related to environmental sustainability through market research, evaluation of business data including RFPs, IHG Green Engage data, etc.
  • Supports Global Director of Environmental Sustainability on identifying solutions, recommendations, and potential partnerships.

 

What we need from you

Experience, Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Work experience at a senior level in a field related to environment, sustainability, carbon or energy management.
  • Analytical Skills including preparing and delivering data analysis and recommendations through presentations and reports.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to simplify complex concepts for stakeholders.
  • Project management skills to ensure effective and efficient delivery of programs.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Understanding of environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and broader societal, environmental, and governance concerns in the realm of hospitality or building management environment.
