Your day to day

Join us as a GSA at the InterContinental Adelaide. You’ll have ambition, talent and obviously, some key skills:

  • Welcoming - Be the warm welcome that kicks off a memorable guest experience
  • Recognise Loyalty - Be sure to recognise and reward our IHG One Rewards members, InterContinental Ambassadors & returning guests, in person or on the phone
  • Be Proactive - be proactive in your approach to helping our guests and solving any issues they may have during their stay. Stay one step ahead of guest's needs, record and act on preferences and handle messages, requests, questions and concerns.
  • Sales Skills -Take and manage guest’s bookings, up-selling opportunities and tell them about ways to improve their stay
  • IT savvy - each day you will use a variety of systems and need to be able to use them effectively
  • Communication - answer the phones and assist guests with their queries  efficiently
  • Trustworthy - Be a trusted contact for all guests. Help them with anything from billing to local knowledge and advise leadership when necessary. Handle cash and credit card transactions, take ID’s and hand out room keys.
  • Time Management - Swiftly check-in and out guests and manage multiple tasks successfully 
  • Presentation -Take pride in your appearance and place as a brand ambassador
  • Knowledgable - Always know what events and activities are on the day’s schedule
  • Flexible -Jump into other ad-hoc duties when your colleagues need your help
  • Safety - Stay safe all the time. Following our safety procedures, you’ll report all incidences and wear any protective equipment needed

What we need from you

  • Communication skills – guests will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments, so you’ll be easy to talk to
  • Your problem solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories
  • Fluency in English – extra language skills would be great, but not essential
  • Experience – ideally you have spent at least one year in a front desk or guest service position Flexibility– night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job
  • Compliant – you’ll be above minimum age required 
  • Strong – sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 23kgs.
  • Literate and Tech-Savvy – you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing, basic math and computers.
