As our Hotel Cook, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional culinary experiences for our guests. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of delicious dishes while adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. Your culinary skills, creativity, and attention to detail will contribute to the overall success of our hotel's dining services.
Menu Planning and Preparation:
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and Food & Beverage Manager to plan and create menus that align with guest preferences and dietary requirements.
- Prepare a wide range of dishes, including appetizers, entrees, desserts, and side dishes, while ensuring high-quality and consistent taste.
- Ensure all food items are properly stored, labelled, and rotated to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
Cooking and Presentation:
- Follow recipes and cooking techniques to prepare meals promptly and accurately.
- Adhere to portion control guidelines to maintain food cost efficiency.
- Plate and garnish dishes creatively, ensuring appealing presentation and visual appeal.
- Monitor food cooking times, temperatures, and quality to deliver excellent results.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
- Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP guidelines, to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Store, handle, and dispose of food items properly to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.
- Regularly inspect kitchen equipment, report any malfunctions, and maintain cleanliness of all cooking utensils and surfaces.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of food orders.
- Communicate effectively with the waitstaff and other team members to address any special requests or dietary restrictions.
- Collaborate with other cooks and chefs to brainstorm new menu ideas and improve existing recipes.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Stay updated on the latest culinary trends, techniques, and best practices to enhance your culinary skills and knowledge.
- Seek feedback from guests and colleagues to improve the quality and presentation of dishes.
- Actively participate in training sessions and workshops provided by the hotel to develop new skills and expand your culinary repertoire.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cook or Chef in a hotel, restaurant, or similar culinary environment.
- Solid knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and culinary techniques.
- Ability to work well under pressure and deliver high-quality meals within strict timelines.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering outstanding culinary experiences.
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
