Role Purpose

An AMER functional role that makes significant contributions to the AMER region as well as global hotels and partners. Providing comprehensive consultations and resolutions to hotel sales departments, IHG internal partners, such as FPS, RMH, Commercial, Global Sales, and travel agents. In doing so, fostering hotel owner/ operator and management company relationships. Handle incoming/outgoing consultations, as well as educational events, via calls, emails or via Microsoft Teams. Answer questions or provide information regarding brand initiatives, hotel standards and sales. Creates and coordinates escalation support in the AMER Region for technical and sales issues. Tracks, solves and reports and solve complicated RFP and negotiated rate issues impacting hotel revenue and performance. Provide support around sales education and sales operations. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Specializes in hotel sales that include supporting all current initiatives and policies across the organization.  Must be able to solve sophisticated technical issues as well as know and retain high levels of data that support the operational sales function of hotels.
  • Investigates booking and content distribution issues and other barriers to rates revenue generation when reported by hotels IHG personnel, or travel industry customers for our negotiated rates and Corporate Gold rates. Capture trends and report issues impacting normal hotel operations based on daily contacts. 
  • Creates informational resources for the purpose of providing tools that can be easily accessed by hotel staff, owners, management companies, and internal partners allowing the facilitation of self-service support
  • Responsible for coordinating, supporting and troubleshooting all RFP related errors and systems.
  • Provides frontline sophisticated technical support for all sales related processes, such as completing and submitting RFPs, group booking tools, rate loading, etc. for our hotel staff, owners, and management companies, as well as internal partners.
  • Creates informational resources for the purpose of providing tools that can be easily accessed by hotel staff, owners, management companies, and internal partners allowing the facilitation of self-service support
  • Responsible for delivering Sales Onboarding training for new Sales Managers and Director sales on property. Responsible for consulting with these hotels to ensure they complete follow-up action items after said training. Responsible for providing one on one consultation to these hotel employees when necessary. 
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to inquiries placed by both internal and external partners needing assistance with the IHG Ecosystem of departments, applications, and initiatives. 

Creates special projects as required.

Key Skills & Experiences

Required Skills –

Education  

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent International degree 

Experience  

  Requires individual with:

  • 5 or more years of S&M experience at corporate or at hotels

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • 5-10 years progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in hotel sales operations.  Technology proficiencies also a must.
  • Experience and knowledge of hotel sales; of rules, practices and of applicable systems and programs
  • Strong clear, concise and succinct communication skills, including adapting both verbal and written communications to the needs and level of user. This includes internal teams and partners, hotel Director of sales, hotel General Managers, management executives and hotel owners.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and execute on strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong technical skills to support and troubleshoot system connections between IHG and partners. 
  • Must have knowledge and application of hotel systems, programs and training principles and procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to keep current with industry trends/changes.
  • Must have and be able to demonstrate problem-solving and time management skills. 
  • Must have and be able to demonstrate attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/clients required. 
  • Ability to create and sustain high-impact, trusted relationships 
  • Essential to have and maintain strong technical skills
  • Ability to make connections across the business
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal 
  • Strong technical skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft Teams
