A closer look at IHG’s best achievements in 2016

December is upon us and another year has almost passed. And what a year it’s been for IHG! We’ve celebrated InterContinental’s 70th Birthday, we’ve introduced new brands to the AMEA region, most recently, downtown Osaka has opened its doors to the first ever Holiday Inn and we signed the first Hotel Indigo in Australia, in Brisbane.

Throughout 2016, we’ve also achieved some great awards. The five awards below particularly reflect our passionate belief in our colleagues around the world who make up IHG.  These accolades highlight our culture, values and commitment to our people.

1. Glassdoor – UK’s highest rated CEO’s

This award aims to identify Glassdoor’s top 25 highest rated CEO’s in the UK, and includes a list of business leaders across a range of industries spanning technology, consulting, investment banking, retail and more. The list was compiled by anonymous company reviews from employees, and we can proudly announce IHG’s CEO Richard Solomons was named among the highest rated!

2. Great Place to Work India & Singapore 2016

For the second consecutive year, IHG has been ranked among the country’s top employers in India, coming in 16th out of 100, while in Singapore we were placed 3rd out of 100! This award recognises a culture where employees trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people they work with. Listed companies are selected and ranked by Great Place to Work® from an initial 700 applicants, down to the top 100.  Each company is scored via a survey of their staff and a best practice questionnaire. Great Place to Work is part of a global research, consulting and training consultancy that helps organisations identify, create and sustain great workplaces through the development of high-trust workplace cultures.

3.Personnel Today Awards – IHG Global Employer Brand

IHG came first in the 'Employer Branding' category in this prestigious UK award, beating strong competition. Judges said of our winning entry:

'Great solution for deployment internally and externally across a huge range of geographies and talent markets. Impressive list of deliverables, with some great stats to show the impact.'

Our employer brand is ingrained in our culture and who we are as people, so this award really means a lot!

4. The Job Crowd – Top 200 UK Graduate Employers 2015/16

Top companies for graduates to work at are ranked based on employee feedback alone. Thousands of reviews are submitted on throughout the year by graduate employees, and based on these, the awards are decided.  IHG was awarded 2nd place in the Hospitality category for smaller intakes!

5. Fortune Magazine – Best 100 Companies to work for - America

Each year Fortune Magazine partners up with Great Place to Work to conduct the most extensive employee survey in America. Two thirds of the survey relates to employees’ attitudes about management credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The remaining third is based on responses to the Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programmes. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants was ranked #20 out of 100 for ‘best company to work for’ in America.

Well there we have it, some pretty great achievements among many others for us throughout 2016! These awards reflect the reputation we work so hard on maintaining at IHG. Being nominated and going on to win these awards validates what we stand for; our commitment to and investment in people.
