Revenue Manager, Crowne Plaza Kensington – London

How long have you worked for IHG?

Since 2010. I started at the Holiday Inn Edinburgh as a UK&I Future Leader, which is a two-year graduate training programme. After the first year in Edinburgh, I moved to the Holiday Inn London – Kensington Forum and completed the programme at the Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport. I then moved back to London to work in the Holiday Inn London - Commercial Road in 2012 where I started my role in Revenue Management.

“IHG has given me the opportunity to see where my career can go, and that’s exciting!”

What was it like on the IHG Future Leaders Programme?

What’s so good about the programme is that it gave me the opportunity to work in a variety of departments in different hotels, across different IHG brands within a relatively short period of time. It really helped me to understand how a hotel works and how the departments inter-link and, in particular, how important it is to work as a team.

What do you like about working at IHG?

Everyone here is really passionate about what they do and the company really cares about its people. There are lots of opportunities here for career progression, which is important to me. ‘Room to be yourself’ is also important as it gives me the confidence to be creative and my ideas have often been implemented into the business to drive revenue.

What's your best memory of working for IHG?

I loved being part of the hotel opening team at Holiday Inn London - Commercial Road. The hotel has since won IHG’s Hotel of the Year Award 2014. I hope to be part of a hotel opening team again in the future as it was a truly rewarding experience.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? How do your hobbies play a part in your working life?

My interests are travelling and food, which is one of the reasons why I love working for IHG - the opportunity for travel. I also enjoy playing table tennis, which plays a part at work as I like to win at this sport as well as at work. The best days are when I see my efforts pay off by achieving the best possible hotel revenue performance!
