Director of Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu

Tell us how long you have worked for IHG and what jobs you have had since working here.

I have worked for IHG for 10 years. I had always been a fan of the InterContinental brand and was fortunate enough to start my career at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand. I began working in the Front Office but I soon discovered that my real passion was sales. After six months, I became a sales coordinator at the InterContinental Carlton Cannes. Eighteen months later, I was back at Le Grand as a Key Account Manager in charge of the UK and US markets. After around two years, I was promoted to Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing. In 2012, I was chosen to assist the opening of the InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu in the role of Director of Sales & Marketing.

“In my opinion, IHG really knows how to develop, as well as keep, their employees. There are many training courses available as well as opportunities for travel”

What do you like about working at IHG?

That the company places the same importance on the happiness of both customers and employees, which is pretty unusual.

How do your hobbies play a part in your working life?

My main hobby is my wife and our three daughters and most of my spare time is spent with them. Sport is also important to me and I run at least three times a week. I enjoy snowboarding, which I try to do at least twice a year, and I love water sports such as windsurfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding and sailing.

What does ‘Room to be Yourself’ mean to you? Do you feel you've got the freedom to be yourself at IHG?

Definitely. I think it’s particularly important to be yourself in a sales position, where authentic relationships and honesty are key.

Do you know where you want your IHG career to go next?

At this stage of my career I am really happy. In fact, one of my proudest moments was when I became Director of Sales & Marketing at this hotel. I would probably like my next role to take me outside of Europe but I am not in any hurry.
