How long have you worked for IHG? What were your first impressions of working here?
I have worked for IHG for three and a half years. The first time that I visited the hotel was when I started my internship as a member of the IHG Academy. I felt very excited and thought how grand the hotel was. The people working here seemed very friendly and professional, and across departments everyone here has always made me feel part of the team from the outset.

What do you like about working at IHG?
I like how many different training courses are available here, and how well organised and structured they are. As a student of the IHG Academy, I have been on many training courses since joining the company, both within and outside the hotel. I also like it when guests say “Thank you” to me when they have a great experience. I’ll never get bored of that!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? How do your hobbies play a part in your working life?
I love being outdoors and enjoy walking through the local countryside. It helps me to relax and I am able to share whatever I find with our guests – whether it’s a new restaurant or simply a great view.
What’s a typical day like for you?
No two days are the same! Generally though I spend most of my day greeting our guests in the lobby or at the front desk, and offer them a welcome drink. At check-in, I help my front desk colleagues to recognise our loyalty programme members and introduce the programme to any non-members. I take any opportunity throughout the day to talk with our Rewards Club members about their stay experience, as well as help them with any restaurant reservations or transportation needs.
What do you like about the team you work with?
Their incredible passion. They are always looking at new ways to make sure our guests have a great and memorable stay. I also like how the management team in the hotel really take care in helping us all to plan our careers at IHG, and they have been instrumental in my journey here so far.
