Meet the team at InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, Vietnam

When we say we have a presence in hospitality globally, we really do mean it. Our Brand Promise, Room to be yourself is embedded in all our teams, all over the world. At IHG no day is exactly the same, which is what makes it so exciting.

There are, however, certain rhythms and routines our teams stick to which will differ from region to region. It’s these rhythms and routines that create the unique culture. Recently we caught up with the Pre-Hotel Opening Team at InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort to go behind the scenes and see the inner workings of the team as they get ready for launch & open.

 

Mr. Alexander Walter – Director of Recreation & Entertainment

Alex creates holistic wellness and leisure experiences for guests and his goal is to make them feel great. Life on Phu Quoc Island is very refreshing he explains due to its National Park status.

I enjoy working in a multi-national, vibrant environment where everyone is appreciated for their differences and their diversified approaches. We work together as a team and all our contributions count.”

 

 

Ms. An Avina – Director of Club InterContinental

An’s role includes knowing the Club InterContinental product inside out, cultivating the concept while preparing a step by step a strategy every day on how we bring it to life for customers.

In the last 2 months working with the remarkable pre-opening team, I’ve learned to differentiate between feeling needed and feeling valued. I feel valued for my contributions. Knowing how to inspire and empower my team is an important leadership skill that I have learned.”

 

 

Ms. Allison Lee – Director of Housekeeping

Allison loves working in a dynamic team in Phu Quoc Long Beach which has armed her with great people skills. She’s learned different ways to approach or communicate most effectively with different individuals.

I enjoy our daily morning briefings - we meet our team members, learn about each department’s operations and feedback, and really feel the synergy we are bringing into our tasks.”

 

Mr Frantz Mathis, Director of Food & Beverage 

Frantz is the Director of Food & Beverage and is responsible for all the restaurants and bars in the resort.  Being in amongst the pre-opening period means Frantz is currently developing concepts for menus, purchasing items, interviewing and hiring colleagues all in time for open!

I work very closely with our entire team every day.  I believe it is important to share, care and communicate with the team - Hospitality is a people business, and it is about helping each other to learn so that we can all reach our goals.”

 

Mr. Jason Min – Director of Guest Services

Like Frantz, Jason is part of the pre-opening team too, working closely with all other departments, including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Club InterContinental, and Recreation.

My favourite part is preparing the guest journey. I like visualising the services that we will give – from the moment guests touch down at the airport, to their arrival at the resort, during their stay, and until their departure.”

 

 

Mr. Ho Cong QuyetExecutive Sous Chef

Having worked in hospitality for over 20 years, Ho has constantly been developing his culinary skills to create well-balanced recipes for Vietnamese cuisine.

Working at InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort is a great challenge because we are the ones who will create the most memorable and relaxing moments for our guests. When my recipes are shared, our team can easily follow and prepare delicious dishes that match our high standards.”
